  1. The college seeks to accomplish three general objectives which are:

    1-To prepare distinctive professional educators who are socially involved and professionally capable, and who engage in their continuous professional growth according to the values and needs of the society and standers of academic accreditation.

    2-To conduct distinguished research that will contribute to accumulation of knowledge, advance professional practices, support educational reform efforts and meet the needs of the educational field and the challenges to social and economic development.

    3-To develop the society through contributing to educational initiative research, training, and consultation programs within the framework of a strategic partnership with other local and global institutions.

     

    In light of the College’s vision and its mission, and taking its philosophy and adopted values as points of departure, and based on the fundamentals of the knowledge foundation on which it relies, the professional educator who graduates from King Saud University should be characterized by the following:

    First: Abides by Islamic values including professional ethics

    Second: possesses the deep skills and understanding of the core of knowledge, structure, basic concepts, and the methods of inquiry in his field of specialization, and contributes to providing the experiences relevant to students’ learning.

    Third: possesses the skills for research and understands the content of researches and recent studies that tackle students’ growth, and understands his role in the students’ growth and learning, and contributes to providing the suitable experiences for their mental, social, physical and emotional growth

    Fourth: plans, supports, and encourages diverse methods of teaching, learning, and working in his specialization field, which includes developing critical thinking and problem solving skills.

    Fifth: possesses verbal and non verbal communication skills, and uses various media to interact with students, colleagues, higher management, parents, and the local community

    Sixth: Understands motives and individual and group behavior, and employs this understanding in finding a learning/ work environment that encourages personal growth, self motivation, and positive social interaction as well as students’ involvement in authentic learning.

    Seventh: Uses formal and informal assessment strategies to assess all aspects of students’ growth and advancement, and analyzes data for various purposes.

    Eighth: Seizes opportunities to achieve personal and professional growth, and possesses the flexibility to modify his professional approaches to reflect what is expected from him as a teacher.

    Ninth: Employs technology and integrates it in his professional practices.

    Tenth: Understands the individual differences among students in various aspects of physical, mental, and emotional growth, and appreciates economic, social, and cultural diversity.

The Department of Educational Technology is one of the first departments to be opened in the Arab world, as it was established under the name of means and technology of education in the year 1979 (which has now become called Education Technology) and has worked throughout its history to support the educational process By providing general courses and a master's program in the specialization while providing technical support to the departments of the College of Education.

  • Prepare scientifically qualified students in Qur’anic Studies who can continuously serve the Holy Qur’an and Qur’anic sciences.
  • Develop the students’ research and technical skills in Qur’anic Studies to help them address developments.
  • Offer distinguished postgraduate programs in Qur’anic Studies.
  • Instill Islamic principles and values of moderation into students to promote social responsibility and national identity.
  • Introduce voluntary services in Qur’anic Studies to serve the University and the community.
