The Center was established in 1416 AH at the University Studies Center for Girls at King Saud University, under the follow-up and guidance of the University's Department of Special Education. It began as a small unit serving individuals with special needs, then grew into a fully fledged center in 1429 AH under the administration of the Deanship of the Studies Center in Olaisha, with specialized supervision from the Department of Special Education. The Center looks after the affairs of female students and staff with special needs at the University, providing them with support services that help them succeed academically, socially and professionally.
