Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz Chair for Contemporary Islamic Studies
The initiative of His Royal Highness the late Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and his generous donation to fund the establishment of a research chair dedicated to contemporary Islamic studies within King Saud University's Research Chairs Program, came as a new resource to support scientific research and channel it toward affirming the moderation of Islam, the tolerance of its rulings, and its suitability for every time and place, as well as offering objective, scholarly solutions to contemporary and emerging issues in light of the teachings and principles of the noble Islamic Sharia.
His Eminence Sheikh Abdulaziz bin Abdullah Al Al-Sheikh, Grand Mufti of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and President of the Council of Senior Scholars and the General Presidency of Scholarly Research and Ifta, signed the contract for the Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz Chair for Contemporary Islamic Studies with His Excellency the University President, Prof. Abdullah bin Abdulrahman Al-Othman, on 22/12/1428 AH.
To achieve leadership and excellence, locally and internationally, in contemporary Islamic studies, with the Chair serving as a distinguished, pioneering research body in the study of contemporary Islamic issues that highlight the moderation of Islam and the tolerance of its rulings.
