The Department of Educational Technology is one of the first departments to be opened in the Arab world, as it was established under the name of means and technology of education in the year 1979 (which has now become called Education Technology) and has worked throughout its history to support the educational process By providing general courses and a master's program in the specialization while providing technical support to the departments of the College of Education.

The department developed its methodology in the master’s stage in 1412 AH, which lasted until the year 1430 AH, and in order to follow up on recent developments, the department worked on developing a new and modern methodology to keep pace with the developments of the field, as it began to be applied in the year 1430 AH.

This is to provide a rich technical educational environment to prepare manpower in e-learning and training as well as developing their knowledge, skills and attitudes in the field of educational technologies.
